Not in Oakville, no. I think he was referring to St Thomas with that.

Yeah was referring to St. Thomas there. But the tradeoff is living in a small town with nothing in it (not even starbucks ) vs living in the Toronto area.

Yes I know you were referring to St Thomas further up the thread. I was responding purely to your recommendation of Oakville which followed from a post (by someone else) saying that $500k would be good if they bought a place in the GTA with GO train access. I bet there is a Timmies though?

Yes there's that. But its not open 24/7/365 and doesn't serve cinnamon dolce lattes or frappucinos

That would be a plus then.

What the hell is wrong with coffee tasting coffee? Some of the 'flavours' on offer....bewildering.

I quite like "coffee tasting coffee" ... I have at least one cup of it a day. But unfortunately Tim Hortons does not serve it

I'd rather have a Williams than Starbucks any day. Actually I'd rather have an empty field than a Starbucks to be honest.

Have to say that the coffee is not why I would be going to Tim Hortons !
Good for a stopover lunch/snack on the road with the family on a budget.
The kid in me likes the Timbits
No offence meant, as I know the chain has a big place in the hearts of many Canadians, like Dunkin Donuts in the U.S.
Thanks to all for the positive posts.

For half a million, couldn't they just buy a franchise for their preferred coffee seller if there wasn't one?

Another option

With half a mill, why not move to the Philippines and have a good finish too?

He's got a wife in tow so that won't work.
