the question I have is would that be enough for a Family (3 Kids 10,7,3) to live on.

We have recently embarked on a life with a similar sum of monthly incomings - two kids - but no mortgage.

It's OK so far, tight-ish (but income will go up after the new year) - but we still haven't stopped all that shopping you have to do to get set up in a new place.

I suppose I could haul my a**e out and go and get a job - but I'm planning on being a lady of leeeeisure for as long as I can get away with it. It's not that I am adverse to getting a job, you understand, but I am very inclined to become a lady wot lunches - if only for a very short time :D

I thought it was the punch line of a well known joke concerning the time two British people had sex.

The thread is nominally about trying to live on $3600/month in Brampton but that's too sad to contemplate.

Oh yes I remember. I may have to contemplate it, but not in Brampton.

We lived on $2000 a month, no kids, no mortgage, little fun. We will now have $3000 a month as I will be working too and so hope to have some fun.

It's too general a question to be answered in this way. You'd be better off to try and make a list of your monthly expenses and how much as a family you'd like to be left with after. Get as much information as you can and draw your own conclusions based on the lifestyle you'd like to move over here for. Some people live an expensive lifestyle and know it, others do the same and don't know it. :)

I could manage on that amount in my circumstances but seeing some of the other responses here not everyone could.
