Working in Amsterdam
Hi,
i may have an opportunity to relocate to amsterdam. i will be moving with my wife and our little daughter.
i would appreiate it if someine could address some issues:
1. is 85,000 Euros (before tax) per year is a sufficient salary - i willl probably need to take care of all expenses (housing, car etc.)
2. what is the 30% ruling ? how will this affect my salary ?
3. Amsterdam or Amstelveen ?
Thanks

Re: Working in Amsterdam
- 85.000 euro before tax is very comfortable.
- For the 30% rule check : HERE
Amsterdam is expensive crowded, drity, not-so-safe and fun.
Amstelveen is expensive, safe and not so fun
So live in Amstelveen you can get nice appartments for around 250-300k, interest payed on mortages is deductable and resale is quick and easy. When you feel like going to Amstedam take the "snel-tram" and you'll be there in no time.
About the 85k euro, compare : You will pay less tax than locals, and the average pay in NL is about 30.000 before taxes and they pay the high tax. Extra info : Holland has the one and only government that f.cks the locals more than the newcommers, as i am of dutch nationality i left the place !
