I've recently moved to the north of holland and I'm looking for some British people to talk to, possibly meet up with in the hoorn area, possibly Amsterdam!

Hi there I've only just joined this forum today. I may move to the Netherlands next year. I am from Leeds. Seems like it's been a few months since you have moved. Have you managed to make british friends?Have you settled? I'm assuming you may have found friends especially around Amsterdam as it's full of tourists.

Hi there, yes I have settled however i havnt met any Enlish people yet as i do not live in amsterdam i live outside. i have made friends at work however it is proving difficult because of my area of living. dont let that put you off! amsterdam is amazing and if you are going to move i would definately reccomend moving to the city. its definately an experience you wont forget, plus almost everyone speaks english so the language barrier isnt a problem.

Hi good to know that you have settled which is great. Although I love Amsterdam. I am trying to research more towns and cities in the Netherlands. I will be moving with my 8 year old son and want to look into schools etc.
I've heard Almere is very family oriented so I may research that a little more.

yes Almere is a lovely place. I live in Hoorn which is almost the very north of the country. I think you will like it alot.

I have posted a thread for people in and around Hoorn to meet up regularly for a cup of tea/coffee today.I live close to Hoorn.
I used to live in Hoofddorp and there they had a regular gettogether with other Brits ,Americans and some Dutch who were married to Brits.
Maybe you are interested in getting together and brainstorm a bit?

I'm over the 'dijk' in Zwolle - Hoorn is nice though, been there a couple of times for concerts in Manifesto
