Cool Re: Your combined household gross income

Estimating our living conditions Down Under as one income under $100k and a mortgage around $95k, I reckon it's fair to say that we'll be the nouveau enchanté.

Well so far this tells us the following:

1. Roughly one-third of people (in the $150k + bracket) will be worse off under the current budget and according to the governments spin do not fall into their definition of a "working family" (So get off your bums you lazy so-and-so's )

2. Given average house prices in the major Oz cities and assuming a 10% deposit, a lot of people will struggle to get a mortgage let alone meet the repayments.

3. One person has no money worries .

I tried to comment in a similar fashion yesterday but it failed, and then I got locked out of the site for the rest of the day with an error message even The Geek didn't understand.

It's not a very British thing to discuss what one earns.

The poll is also slightly flawed in that, if you earn exactly $200k, for instance, which band do you vote for? (Purely hypothetical; I earn a big fat zero.)

But a lot less rude than 11% National Insurance?

And the hospitals are cleaner.

And I've spent a lot less time waiting.

Ho hum.
