Recently I posted a few negative comments on some threads critisising Australian employment law.
Those mulling up whether to come to Oz or stay in the UK might take interest in this...
I recently hired a person of Asian origin and fired him a year later for under-performing.
Although the entire team is multicultural and I am a foreigner(Australian) myself he has taken me to he tribunal claiming a am a racist and fired him for racially motivated reasons.....the proof his lawyers have put forward.....that I made a few negative comments about the 7/7 bombings-ie I disapproved of the bombings. I should have been more "sympathetic" to the cultural values of the bombers.
You probably dont believe this but it is really true.

Maybe you should of paid them more,instead of peanuts then!!!

I swear I am not-OK. One of the comments I was accused of saying was-"the Next thing it will happen in Australia"-I actually never made this comment at all.

I'm sure if the Next thing really did happen in Australia it would make a lot of the ladies very happy.

to be a little more precise the idea was that by demonstrating that I particularly objected to this event-one could assume I "might" be anti-Islamic-and therefore assuming I might have thought that this guy was Islamic(I knew he was Hindu), I fired him for being so-actually he was a lazy bugger.

Almost did happen too...so I have no idea why even if you had said this that anyone would have a right to dispute it as scare-mongering and inciting racial tension?

That was the comment I got grilled over the most-the implication being that I am some sort of Aussie redneck(well.....)

His statement also harped on about this comment-which I never said-actually what I did say was-and again you will not believe that this got twisted in such a manner-something like-"In Australia they are going way overboard talking of the possibility of an attack there(though now I am not so sure of that).

I can't actually see that he has a leg to stand on. Do any of your other colleagues concur with your decision and for the reason that you decided to execute it?

If you can show a consensus amonsgt the ethnic spectrum of people that work with you then I can't see that he has a point to argue?
