Who knows - Norway and Switzerland have done pretty well outside the union. The UK puts 50 million a day into the Euro pot - not sure how much it gets out.

Everything else is the fevered imaginings of a bunch of centralist bureaucrats and has no value. In fact, it's destructive, as recent events have shown. You can't force a united states - when they aren't.

Re: Are you "Eurosceptic"?
It wasn't a very auspicious start:
1950's - They wanted us in, we said 'no'
1960's - We wanted to be in, they said 'nein'
1970's - They said 'peut-etre', we said 'might as well, sort of'
Been like that ever since really.

the EU just doesnt work. Common Market and trade agreements yes, maybe, but not this whole no borders Europe. Integration is not working. Its like multiculturalism lol
Sort out the benefits situation in the UK too. It shouldnt be eligible to a whole bunch of people just because their country recently joined the EU.

Actually was a little surprised reading through the comments in the German press with regards to the number of Germans admiring the British stance to differing degrees.
There is a lot of concern there that the German tax payers are putting shed loads of money into a black hole with the bail outs of the Latin nations with all too little return and that their leader doesn't speak for them.

I have no problem with the EU (but without a constitution, veto powers, human rights legislation etc) but the Euro was a step too far and was never going to work as intended (the Germans gave up the mightly D Mark - what were they thinking?).
The UK needs to stay in the EU though, leaving would cause major pain - UK would kiss goodbye to companies like Airbus and all the high-tech jobs that they provide.

Yes in favour of trade agreements, but definitely NON to the ability of Brussels to overrule and run the British way of life.

the Germans has been taking advantage of the diminished value of their currency. now their exports are more competitive because if the devalued euro.
if they went back to deutsche mark their competitiveness will decline.
