It's particularly bad to laugh at people on here who are homesick. I'm sure there are a fair few who are just that and come on here for a cheer-up. Come on guys, we were all there once.

Oh i definately have at one time or the other.. remember one of the 1st postings I asked if I could take teabags with me in my container.. I got a really sarky remark back from the 1st response.. fortuntately a load of other posters came on and told him to back off so I didn't feel completely like an idiot or that this place could be that scary ...

It happens to most of us when we are learning I suppose.. saying that, if it hadnt been for BE I wouldnt have found my 2 loveliest friends over here (kinda like my bestest friends now) and my job... (via someone I met on here).. nor would I be up to date on car insurance and actually found some contents insurance that covers my tatty old Queenslander rental! So all in all, I love BE as it has eased and helped me to much with my move to the other side of the world

OK.. mushy moment over

Em x

That's the whole point. Everyone knows they've asked the very same questions in the early days. No one's being nasty/cruel/or lacking concern for others, it's lighthearted for crying out loud and as I've said already, it's one of those threads that crops up at least yearly and people who are relatively new in, join in, also knowing full well that they've asked those questions too.

Sorry, I really don't think it comes across in the thread. More references to 'I remember when I first came on here and asked ........' would make it a bit clearer (queue everyone from here on starting their post with 'I remember when I first came on here and asked .............!). I'm just saying that as a newbie, after reading this, there's no way I would post. I call 'been here for 6 days, is it time to quit?' a bit cruel. Call me the sensitive type. Have to say I love the kitten picture though.

Why is that cruel? The poster came on here asking opinions on whether people thought 6 days was long enough to decide whether he wanted to stay or go home. How is that any more cruel than making light of the will my curtains fit Australian windows question?

Especially as the person concerned has since admitted it was a little early Anyway, not to worry. There will always be someone who takes offence at a post regardless of who they are and what the post says. Can't please all the people all the time I believe the saying goes.
