I have seen some big acts in bit stadia (Aerosmith, David Lee Roth at the NEC etc) but you lose so much of the atmosphere in an aircraft hanger or even in a field (Oasis, Foo Fighters etc). I have decided to boycott the Burswood Dome and Subi Oval for that reason.
The most enjoyable gigs have been one guy with a guitar or a local band in a pub or club. Possibly best of all was while waiting for our visa we had a weekend in Dublin sampling the Guiness and whiskeys (as you do) and while wandering through the touristy bit south of the river nipped into a pub for a quick pint of the black stuff. A guy set up his guitar and amp right next to us and we drank a few pints with front row seats watching the world go by from the adjacent window,
A few gigs in The Bedford in Leamington Spa were good too, not least for all the hot girls in skintight denim and leather

Difficult to say a favourite - depended who I was into at the time. Memorable ones were -
The Cramps at Hammersmith Palais
Bauhaus, Japan and Simple Minds at Bristol Studios
The Waterboys - saw them at Bristol Colston Hall with my brother, then decided to drive to Cardiff the next night to see them again - even better this time at St David's Hall and right at the front.
Would have loved to have seen The Clash, The Jam & Iggy Pop
I have a problem with big venues - doesn't do anything for me.

I forgot about Mark Knopfler (sp?) at the Royal Alex in Toronto about 5 or 6 years ago. It was a very small venue and he was great.

Completely agree. In 2002 I tipped Muse and Snow Patrol to become huge in both the UK and the US and so far neither band has disappointed me. Saw Muse myself back in September for the first time since 2004.... they've only gotten better live. And I love Matt Bellamy's vicious swipes at Herr Bush.

Billy Bragg, Cambridge Corn Exchange in, I think, 1991. As sheer entertainment value goes utterly brilliant. He had us in stiches with his humour too!
A close second would be The Pixies, Brixton Academy in, I think, 1989. Sheer energy!

I've seen Bryan Adams at Wembley 3 times, the second time was with my sister. My BIL and I bought tickets on the quiet, and surprised her with them for her birthday. She had such good fun, no kids to worry about, just being young and a rocker again. Great afternoon/evening
The other one was Hawkwind, Hammersmith, 14th March 1984 I think ?!!!). Excellent concert, spaced out music, strange smelling smoke in the air.......
The guy organising the trip said that the minibus from the college Rock Society was short on fuel so would I mind staying overnight at his place as it was such a good concert he didn't want to ruin it by ruining out of petrol somewhere on the Sussex Downs. he promised me sausage and bacon for breakfast if I stayed over.........stillwaiting for the breakfast.........

I've been to some brilliant ones, Ten CC, Thin Lizzy, Marillion, Yes, but there are two that stick in my mind.

I can't make up my mind!
Pulp at Reading (I think) 1996, REM at Stiling Castle, 1997 (I think), Eagles Return Tour at Wembley, totally awesome!!!, 1997, (I think), Elton John at the SECC, 2002 (I think), first time I felt like I was in the presence of someone who deserved adulation. Met the Queen at the Royal Garden Party in Edinburgh not long after, and she wasn't half as good al Elton! Sorry, not too good with dates, blonde + senior moments kicking in at same time now.
Maggie,
P.S. I went to see the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Hollies in the 60s, when I was VERY young!!

Gotta be pink Floyd at Earls Court, magnificent. Mind you Joe Cocker was no slouch at the Hammersmith appollo, best venue on earth
