Sorry, not slang, Geoff was the first name that came to mind, which is strange as I have never known one. Anyway, do you think going to an all boys school was a positive or a negative, overall?

It seems I was trying to come up with Rhyming Slang for 'Geoff Capes' in vain :D

A bit difficult to judge the merits of an all-boys school as I didn't know anything else, I don't think I missed out on anything.

There was plenty of (official) cross-school socialising in the later years with a girl's school. ;)

I was one of just a handful of girls who spent a year at a boys school (as you do.) Being an ugly duckling I didn't like it much.

Back to subject. He says we would have never dated. Probably true. He was into chess... I was hanging out the top of a car wearing an op shop Queen coat waving at strangers.

There was an innocence. During my short time working at a dire school in Essex, one girl was suspended for administering hand relief to a grateful boy during a science lesson, and another was expelled for offering after-lunch entertainment in the form of free BJ's.

He was in the year above me (when he rarely rocked up, anyway). I didn't know him but I was very friendly ;);) with one of his best mates. Only hooked up a year after I'd finished, introduced by the said best mate. I don't think I would have gone out with him then though but no real idea why

The short answer: Heck NO.

Hubby and I were talking about high school last night, and we both agreed that if we had met back then, there's NO WAY we would have dated. Honestly, if we had lived in the same town and had gone to the same high school, I know I would have avoided him. He would have thought I was a goody two-shoes. He went to an alternative high school. The alternative school focused more on experiential learning rather than learning in more traditional ways.

While hubs rebelled in his own way, I was definitely on the straight and narrow. I loved school. I liked the predictability of it and I loved the classes I took and experiences I had. Going to college / uni was expected in my family. (It was definately when not if)

When I first met my hubby I thought he was the most obnoxious SOB I had ever met. 3 years later we started dating and are now coming up on our 12 year anniversity.

But if I had met him at 15 or 17, there's no way we would be together now.

What about you???

I did and 25 years down the line we are still together! We are quite different people and I think that is why we are still together.

Nope, he was a naughty boy.

No. He was in grade 4 when I started high school. It would have been a little creepy.

When I started secondary school, my SO was an embryo. Dating would have been somewhat tricky.

One boy at my school was suspended for having a tug during a French lesson (the female teacher was attractive). Made a mess of the blazer in front apparently.

This is a rumour, naturally, I wasn't in the class. I would never have been caught dead trying to learn French.

I would rather be caught having a wank during a minute's silence, there would be less shame.

The kid with the blazer - wasn't he one of the Lewinski boys? That was an impressive load shooting, it must have been like the Somme in there at times. The poor cleaners must have drawn straws to see who got the French classroom.

Always found it less shameful to speak French in France, rather than English very loudly and slowly.
