Worst Samsung Service, What can i do ?
#16
Interesting thread! I had a Samsung phone once (back in the early days) and said "Never again!" But on holiday in Aus right now bought a throw away, bottom of the range Samsung with a really good text, message, data arrangement etc and, apart from a crappy camera I could almost be persuaded to change from my iPhone when I upgrade. But hearing these stories - perhaps not! I've always been very happy with AppleCare and their NQA replacement service!

I've just been at the pub, 6 of us, 4 iphone 6 users, 2 Samsungers. The iphoners were passing around some portable battery device charging up their phones. WTF is all that about. Iphoners seriously put up with poor battery life?
Us Samsungers were just giggling.
Got to hand it to Apple though. Mutton dressed up as lamb.

I think it's more what you compare with what.
The iphone 6 is limited by the apple fetish of 'gotta be thinner'. Whilst the fanbois will lap it up no matter what, Samsung have to actually compete with other manufacturers, so have to deliver real world results. Thus they throw in lots of hacks to push it up.
However, the real iphone is now effectively the iphone6+, and that extra size gives them extra battery life (and makes them slightly more competitive with the flagships, but still not there).

My BiL has a Samsung but actually asked me to get him a portable charger for christmas as he could see the advantage when travelling a lot.

My iPhone has no battery issues...only one I have owned had ever and apple just replaced it on the spot. Their service is so great, something that is underrated imo.

There is nothing acceptable about and iphone 6 requiring a recharge at the pub after a good charge the night before

Sounds like off the back of apple sales doing badly, they are going to say to hell with convention and launch a 'new', small, iphone and ipad on 15th March.
Basically they seem to be old models, tweaked slightly with fast CPUs - but that does mean the return of the iphone 5s and the 4 inch size that fanbois have been crying over.
No word on if the price will be more 'Moto G' like - the guess is 'nope'. Currently if you want an iphone 5s, you'll be expected to pay A$749, so a slightly faster processor versioned 5se is hardly likely to be price competitive with the typical $250-350 of the G.

Looks like they might be also doing away with the Notes and adding the 5.5" to the 7 series.
Samsung Galaxy S7 to be revealed on February 22 at Mobile World Congress
On another note steer clear of Sony's. They have a self cracking screen issue and often Sony won't fix it free. Just google "Sony self cracking screen". The BBC Watchdog has even covered it.

On the flipside Samsung are releasing the 7. Looks like the MicroSD slot is back. Probably not a bad idea. Not that I have ever had a need for it except a few weekends ago where I filled the phone taking masses of time lapse and UHD footage in the wilderness where there was no signal present.

I personally think that a phone that runs radar and weather warnings, facebook, BE, emails, the odd phone call, ebay and gumtree, checking of bus times plus other occasional sites all day and still has battery life left is doing very well. Its usually down to about 20% after a full day shift, so that would be 13 hours from being charged. I then have a charger with which to boost it if I go out so that when I need to get home I still have a functioning bus-time checker.
My BiL has a Samsung and uses it as a GPS as well as a phone - he now finds his portable charger invaluable on long trips.
