Thanks everyone, one down one to go
. It's indeed a big and positive step towards making Australia our permanant home.
Mrs P has done well.
Meanwhile, I'm delegated to the role of house husband.

An awful thing has happened. My OH telephoned this morning to confirm acceptance of the job offer but before doing so she notified the employing manager that she's scheduled to fly to Malaysia for two weeks in June to attend her mum's 90th bithday celebrations and asked if it would be okay (I think my OH would have cancelled if it had been a problem). The reaction was "Why didn't you mention this at the interview?", "This is unacceptable!", "I'm immediately withdrawing the offer of employment!".

Obviously C and I are gutted, our hopes were raised and then dashed. But having spoken with some of our friends about it and who know the manager (she's associated with the ACT migration programme), it turns out that she's a very unreasonable and unpleasant person to work for, so my lovely wife might just have had a lucky escape. But I'm still fuming about the way that she's been treated.
