Does anyone know if it's possible to get BBC commentary live on the internet for the World Cup?
Having watched both games on SBS so far, the standard of commentary is pretty average.

There's a couple of possibilities, but most of them involve hiding the fact that you have an Australian IP address. Lots of people have said they've had good success with HideMyIP which is a proxy service aimed at non-techy end users.Or you can go for a VPN service with UK servers such as Lamnia.
Once you have either of those you can access any of the BBC's iPlayer streams and shows. You'd be able to tune into the BBC Radio 5 live commentary and it wouldn't block you because geographically it looks like you're in the UK.
Alternatively you could give FilmOn HDI a go - they stream all the UK channels, but you have to pay a fee to watch them - $8 a month gets you the BBC channels, the ITV channels, CH4, BBC News and some movie channels. Quality seemed okay when I've used it.

I had to watch the opening game with the commentary in Arabic last night - I think we'll pick another venue for Australia's first game.
