Wollongong drivers are bonkers!
Got home earlier from a nice little holiday to Wollongong. Much fun had by all. By "all" I mean my 7yo & 3yo boys. Obviously "holiday" really means keeping them entertained and we gain satisfaction just be seeing them smiling and experiencing new things..
New experience for me however was Wollongong drivers. Is this the same in all big towns/cities? I've been here in Oz 6 years, always lived in NSW country towns - Griffith, Orange, Albury/Wodonga, where drivers feel to me to be mostly laid back. Still the few expected hoons and nutters, but they're the exception. But Wollongong ... oh my days ... speed limits, what speed limits? 60 = 70 at least. 80 = 90 at least. Mobile phone use - rife. Lane discipline - awful. Speeding overtakers, speeding undertakers (not the coffin-carrying kind), middle & outer lane hogs galore. "I'm turning right in 5k so I'll just stick here in lane 3 thank you very much". Indicators - you know, those flashing orange things on the corners - rarely seem to work at all. But, surprisingly, no angry horns or road rage. Not once. Just seems to be the accepted norm. Get cut up? Fair enough. 'P' platers - don't give a monkeys about their legal limits (but that seems fairly true everywhere in my experience here so far).
This might all be a gross exaggeration based on just 6 days in Wollongong... but is it?

Try Sydney. There's a reason I no longer drive.
