Default Wii, XBox or PS3

Just thinking ahead for my sons xmas przzies and wondered which of these games consoles offer the best games / fun etc

It seems like the wii does something different to the others but can you still play games on it like FIFA football etc?

How old is he - and will he be the only one playing on it - or would you like something the whole family can use?

He'll be 13 at xmas, and yeah I'd like to enjoy it with him of course.

What type of stuff do you do or play on your wii?

These days, most games are released for all the consoles.

Yeah I know but what is the attraction of the wii as I get the impression that its not the console of choice for gamers, more of a console for quirky fitness things or sport games like bowling.

Get him an Uber PC. He'll thank you for it and the games are cheaper than console games.

It's also general purpose and extensible.

A gamers PC with high-end CPU and Graphics card(s) (in a nutshell).

One he's played 'Call of Duty 4' on the PC he will be as happy as the proverbial pig in muck...

We have a PS2 which only really gets used for playing the Buzz quiz games now. But we recently bought a Wii. It is brilliant but like you say seems to be based around activity games using steering wheels, tennis rackets and light sabres and so on. You can get a joystick-type game controller for it but if you are into dungeons and dragons games etc Wii probably isn't the right choice for you.

Never a problem with a PC.

It's a relatively larger outlay at the beginning but it's worth it in the long run.

We have had the Wii for ages and it appeals to the whole house.

The younger kids like Mario etc and Animal Crossing is coming to the Wii around xmas. Eldest like Zelda etc. My kids are aged 3 -16 and all use it. Well the 3 year grabs a controller and thinks she plays it!
Everyone loves mario kart.

Yes it has fitness stuff, but nintendo has a very good range of games. We like Nintendo as they have good games for all age groups and you can aviod the killing spree games.

We have had nintendo stuff for years, and cant fault the choice of games.
Currently got Super Nintendo console, N64, Game cube, Hand held Advance,SP,DS, and now the wii.

Wii gets a thump up in our house
