Question Why won't my washing machine work??

We shipped over a washer-dryer from the UK (it's just over a year old) and it worked fine for a month or so, but has suddenly stopped working - power is getting to it but it won't start... any ideas?

Or know of any good washing machine repairers?

Cheers!

Had the same thing happen with my tumble dryer

worked for a few times and then wouldnt.

Turned out that during the move - something had worked loose and then snapped on usage after a few times. Sent for part but this took 12 weeks so ended up buying a new one - old one sat in parts now in garage

If the brushes are gone on the motor, the drum won't turn. Can be fixed. Is the water being drawn in at all? If not, possibly the pump has gone.

Did you remember to fit the transit bolts before shipping?

We didn't have transit bolts and so our machine was filled with a duvet and arrived just fine. I guess we were lucky but figured we'd risk it.

Chances are that it's only a connection that's worked loose in the move. Always look for the simplest things first - it's too easy to imagine the worst and rush out & buy a new one when the old one merely needs a going over and a wiggle of the connectors!

Plan B: (requires one sledgehammer....)

No they don't. If a fuse blows, none of this farting around with plugs and little screws, and new fuses. You just go flick a switch in the fuse box. It's excellent.
