My friends live quite a way from me and I don't have any locally. I also consider some people on here to be friends and this site is the only way I can keep in touch - plus the phone of course.
Mr PP works long hours and this is my thing that I do to keep in touch.
Some people say that we go on BE because we don't have a life and I say bollocks to those people, because to say that means that they have nothing better to do than to observe those of us who are happily posting away and not bothering anyone.
Which really means that they don't have one themselves.
I love BE and I might not have time nor chance to get on sometimes but when I do I enjoy catching up and finding out about those I care about.

I started with the odd post in The Lounge and thought I could handle it but I soon found myself looking the Aussie forums and even ... <shudder> ... Moving Back To The UK ... at this point I knew I had a problem.
Then came the Premium Member years ... then I saw a shiny Merc in the Photo Gallery and decided that this site didn't need any more of my money
Sometimes I wonder about the futility of posting some half-arsed opinion that will probably make no odds to anything and I consider the time that could have been better spent on other things.
Then I realise it is all part of the rich tapestry of life and sometimes even the most trivial action matters in the scheme of things.
So I go off to a porn site for a wank.

I've developed a habit of everytime I have a Coffee or Tea, of having a bit of a browse on the Computer. I also prefer mucking around on here to watching TV. Other than that I find some of the topics stimulating and thought provoking.
Having said that I am also a bit of an addict

Was having a chat with a friend of mine. Both our partners work away from home. Both of us love our life here in in OZ. Both of us only post on BE when our partners are away from home.
So my question is ...
Do people (once they have moved to OZ) only post when there is a gap in their lives? ....... or do they post for more alturist reasons ("I got a lot of useful info when I was moving to OZ, so I'm going to post to help others etc....)??????

I want to
when I want
to chat, debate or arrange things with like minds and to apparently upset those that haven't
to do something that is mindless and banal as expats is the equivilant to magazine flicking, reading a paper or TV watching
when I'm on MSN and someone one finger only types and I'm waiting for a reply I can browse expats for something to entertain me
I don't the rest of the time because I'm doing something normal and interactive in real life

I do that too, I type way to fast
