Why do you bother?

You've made the move.
You're all settled.
Why do you come on here?

Probably the same reason as you. You make friends, you want to keep in touch.

Quiet moments...varies from time to time...for quite a few years we have been very busy with pre-schoolers...it's not as if we are out partying every night - thank God...there is also a twisted fascination with...British expatriates...I have learnt more about my fellow countrymen since I moved to Australia than I did before I moved...it's a fascination viewed from a safe distance...

They never, ever cease to amaze me. In fact, it's been quite illuminating.

Because you'd miss us!

I still come on here because I'm nosey! I like to read about different things and I like the interaction on the threads I post on :).

But still enjoy going out and interacting with 'real' people too!

In a past life... before I became a miserable bastard, I actually made some real friends via these sort of boards, infact one of them arrives from the US in about 10 days.

- made some brilliant friends through the site and its a way of keeping in touch:wub:
- I'm giving back what I've got from the site:rolleyes:
- I'm a sad git who lives on the computer day and night (partly for work reasons) so why not embrace BE in that:thumbup:
- I'm nosey and like to see what people are doing with their lives, and how views change once they arrive in their new country - and in some cases leave again:blink:
- Sue refused to allow me to delete my account:sneaky:
- I enjoy it:cool:

It's a habit I've acquired, I'm generally on here when Ive a cup of tea made.... I drink a hell of a lot of tea though. It keeps me from doing mundane housework things... The other side of the coin is I dont have that much patience for TV.

I'm Australian now but will never be an Aussie. I will tread in that half between life of not recognizing household Australian celebs names and still loving a good BBC drama whilst wearing thongs.

Here there are like minded people and very occasionally a pearl of wisdom in the otherwise entertaining drivel. ;)

All of the above for me.....ok, I'm not actually in Australia yet, but I've been on here a bloody long time

The one highlighted in red above means that I've never had to come back with a different name

Not yet in Australia but in some respects I feel that I'm already there :o

BE is addictive and fills those otherwise idle moments to chat, have laughs with, share help and gain (sometimes shocking but often heartwarming) insights into a very mixed bag of people .

BE was invaluable before our move for information, I have used it since 2003 when we were first planning our move. When we first arrived in Brisbane Oct 2005, feeling very isolated it was a virtual friend - now we are settled I try to give back any info I can to anyone who asks especially in the business owner field. We have met some fantastic people from the forum - including you good selves:thumbup:
