Why do Aussies make such wild generalisations?

Why do Americans make such wild generalizations

I really tried to come up with something witty to this one (I'm due a witty moment) but I failed.
I'm just going to go with BS's suggestion and flush your head down the toilet instead. If it worked for The Young Ones it'll work for me.

Why do all Aussies walk around saying "G'day mate, fancy coming to me barbie this weekend, we can drink Fosters while the Sheilas talk about barbie food" to everyone that walks past.
Honestly, I was talking to someone the other day about my possible move and thats exactly what he thought it was like, and in his head, Australia is 8,000,000 degrees all year long and everyone sits on the beach doing nothing as a job.
Does my head in.
/end.
