[QUOTE=PamE;7852791]You can add an alternate name if you do wish to be found (doesn't show on your profile, just allows you to be found if your old name is searched) - you never know what amusing blast from the past might turn up, I've been 'found' by several people under my old name and it's been fun catching up

I didn't know you could do that

I love it and do not buy into the paranoia that 'they can find everything about you'
I choose what I want people to see, I leave video messages for my family that only they can see. Certain people are on limited profile so I can control what they see.
I have a work list for my colleagues, a friends and family list, a general list, one for the saucepots I work with
.
My family love it and its great for photos and videos. When Mr PP was in hospital, he left a short video message for my Dad as Dad was worried sick and as I come from a large family, Mr PPs updates were done by facebook so our friends and family could read it, it was better than the several phonecalls a night I was getting.
Birthday videos, Christmas videos - they are great for loved ones.
My nephew is in Afghanistan and its brilliant to see his updates and chat to him on the chat function.
If people know too much about other FB users it is because they put too much out there.
My family say they feel closer to me by FB and even my Dad has got in on the act and embraced it all. He can see pics/videos of my family in Cyprus.
I love it and you can add whatever you want and family/friends can leave the messages they want.

I spend way too much time there playing games but I do like it to keep up with what people are doing etc.
