Just been thinking (dangerous i hear you say) Do you know who YOU are? Im not sure I know me at all. Im mum and a chef, chuck in taxi driver and house maid for good measure and thats pretty much me summed up!
I dont know what my hobbies and interests are cos i dont seem to have time for any of them.
I get up at 5am go to work, feel guilty about leaving kids home alone in mornings, come home, collapse knackered for an hour til kids come home, feed them, ferry them around, listen to their day, try to make up for the guilt at leaving them in morning, shower, go to bed to start all over again the following day
its not Australia, it was pretty much the same before we came out here but there i guess i had the whole visa thing going on to occupie me. Now we are here and living the dream
I seem to have time to think
So who are YOU?
What are your hobbies and interests?

You've got to simplify your life - don't do too much chauffering: one out-of-school activity per week per child is enough - they need time to be bored occasionally, to find out who they are.
Make cooking easier - get a crock-pot on in the morning, so its waiting for you at night. Or a salad. Be a bit of a sargent-major: organise the kids to do some housework - regular job each, with no excuses allowed.
What's your job? Do you like it? If not, it will be impacting badly on your private life, by making you just that bit too fed up to do something for yourself. Look for a better one.
Make sure your diet includes plenty of omega3 and no soy or canola. This means many processed foods are out, but you'll feel better.
Hire out 'Shirley Valentine' and 'Educating Rita' from the video shop and be inspired.
Finally - grow old and retire: I did and it's grrrrrrreat!!!!
Who am I? A wife and mother, a late in life university graduate in French and German, a gardener, a would-be writer, artist, craftswoman, an occasional translater, a carer, a friend, a pain in the neck, still love the music of the Beatles, Stones, Queen - a bit of a leftie, an occasional stirrer.....and sometimes a grump..............I bet there is LOADS more to you than you said!!!

Make cooking easier: I'm gonna get that new Delia Cheats book
Who am I?
What are my hobbies and interests?
Um...................... dont really have any as such
I enjoy doing a bit of sewing (clothes for DD etc). I LOVE catching up with friends over coffee. I guess that's been my biggest interest lately. Life pretty much revolves around DD at the moment, and I am happy with being a Mum. I think the last couple of weeks have been the happiest I've ever been.

OOPS FORGOT....
Hobbies are driving kids to and from sports events, school and mates houses ( listening to music and going to concerts, reading and writing prose)
Interests are 21st century music, football and homework ( Pavarotti, poetry, cooking and making friends and time for them)

I have hobbies but they involve the whole family (boating, camping, jetski-ing). I used to love line dancing in the Uk but haven't found a class yet.
I think all our time is spent either working or looking after others, that we forget or don't have time for ourselves.
I really need to sit and think about what I want from life and set about achieving the things I want.
I'm going to have a think this week and then plan what I want to do!
Look out world, here I come

Love that film, it's a classic, not seen it in years, must watch it again soon.

ooooh deep.
I have no idea who I am anymore, Im Mummy and Wife...amongst other things.
I have just had a weekend away with friends which should have helped me rediscover the real me, I realised im a bit wild
but to be honest I think alot of that is to hide my insecurites.
I dont allow myself to get in touch with the real me, I dont like me.
Im better at being a Mummy.

sounds like most of us females are the same, we give up who we are for a while to bring up our families. at the moment though I am quite enjoying my role as mother/wife/taxi/entertainer e.t.c. maybe in 15yrs I'll have a career change.
