sorry to keep on but did you book well in advance?

No worries! Yep I did - booked at the start of March, also originally booked to fly in June but then changed date for £25, don't know if that helped keep the fare low.

If anyone has good flight recommendations for October flights I'd be very interested - need to get the OH out there! Malaysia is bring up best prices for that time right now...

I totally agree with anyone but BA or Qantas - also avoid Japan Airlines, they are AWFUL

I think it says something when the national airline who were always known as the "flying kangaroo" is called by its own countrymen as "the flying dog". Qantas strikes, rescheduling and the problems they are suffering now don't do it any favors I reckon.

Generally I think that both BA and Qantas are not bad. Usually not that competitive on the Australia/Europe route and maybe a little less service orientated than the asian airlines, but maybe thats something to do with the cultural differences between east and west.

I've had bad flight experiences with Virgin Atlantic and would rather swim personally. Others like it. Go figure.

Well as if their service wasn't crappy enough...........

1500 Qantas jobs to be axed

I guess it'll be back to rows of empty check-in desks and 90 minute bag drop queues in Brisbane! :curse:

Just as well I'm loyal to Virgin these days!

Looks like UK customer support may be closing down too.

Emirates were ok, but prefer Singapore, especially the 2 flights over 3.

We had little choice. It was BA/Qantas or nothing. Well unless we were willing to pay £2500 each one way with emirates or singapore. We got one way with BA from Manchester to Brisbane for £2200 that is for 3 of us one way.

We fly 1st Aug and we were flexible on dates could do a week either side. We booked 5th June.

I am going air new zealand to melbourne, £442 one way, 46kilo baggage allowance per person.

I've not flown them yet but i know they have new planes on that route and by all accounts are excellent.

Yes, we booked with Air New Zealand too. Didn't quite get them as cheap as that though:thumbdown: Anyway, decided the bigger seat pitch and luggage allowance was worth it. Also was told that going via America was better in September because it could be rainy season the other way?? Not sure how true it is, we were sold on the seat pitch to be honest. We are on our way September 5th - 1 week in LA and onto Melbourne :thumbsup:

I am happy to invest my well earnt money in an Australian airline. I hope a little amount of my fare helps keep a Australian Qantas worker employed. So what if there are long queues, I'll complain about that when I book first class!
