I also lived in Bristol for about ten years... could never get the hang of the "where you too then" question... or the fact that half the people can't say specifically and say pacifically instead !!
Don't forget the Bristol 'L'. For the unitiated some words have an 'L' worked into the end (ie, I comes from a nice aereal). I love listening to Little Britain's Vicky Pollard and recognise some of the places she(he) mentions (Fishponds, Staple 'ill) - yer, but no, but! |

I used to ask the locals to say "specifically, what's the best TV ariel for this area" and I would get back "pacifically what's the best TV ariel for this ariel" !!

Re: Where are you from
Born in Preston, moved every 3 years until I was 34. Now 4 years in Perth is the longest I have lived anywhere my whole life. Sound a little northern, ie. I say BATH not BARTH.

Re: Where are you from
Worcestershire/Warwickshire border for me. Worked in Birmingham for a good while and then Wales, Wiltshire, Berkshire, and a few other places. So I've got a brummie twang with a mix of lots of other accents including now a spot of Aussie creeping in!
And I say GRASS not GRARSS. DANCE not DARNCE. PINT O'BEER not a WHITE WINE SPRITZER! |
