PP, mine does what yours is doing from time to time. What I was told to do (and it seems to work) is to turn off location, bluetooth, wifi, push options ie all the additional settings, turn it to flight mode and turn it off. Leave it for a while (I usually let mine cool down) then turn it back on, turn off flight mode and gradually introduce all the other functions as you need them (I generally leave push until last - that's the one I find that drains the most) and once I have done that, I get really good usage out of it again for a few months.

In addition I love my mophie juice airpack which is a case/battery charger.

As for cool apps I use my phone as a defacto laptop so I use docs to go and handbase all the time. For freebies, I like Flixster, flight radar, tune-in radio and Google and a number of word games like i-associate. Other paid apps I use a lot - sygic maps, pocket money (simply the best budgeting app around I think) and extreme agenda (replaces the native calendar for me). Never thought I would say it, being a palm girl of old, but I actually like my iphone especially since I now have a bluetooth keyboard which allows me to use it like a laptop.

Is the GPS enabled? That, and the display, use 95% of the battery. And most batteries are tiny to keep the phone size down anyway.

If it's Android there's a prog that stops apps from running in the background, although the latest Android does this anyway (Froyo).

Angry Birds is good, but I actually prefer Cut The Rope, that's a very clever game!

The coolest is RedLaser - a barcode scanner which lets you know the price of pretty much any scanned item and where you can buy it from! Useful if you are out shopping and want to know if you can buy the product cheaper elsewhere before purchasing.
Is that Android? I have tried a couple of scanner progs but they don't seem to get the info on Australian products - they work on DVDs and books OK.

I tried it on several products and it wasn't able to tell me any prices whatsoever, clever though, if it worked lol

Great thread, BTW!

My best app (and I'm a complete novice with this smartphone thing) is GPS golf program. trouble is, it removes one more excuse for not hitting the green every time.............

I had to lash up a cigarette socket to my battery cart to keep the phone alive for a complete round - the phone battery won't do four hours with GPS enabled.

Try it on a book or DVD barcode - you'll be surprised how much info it gives!

Well I went to the Apple store and one of the guys looked at it, tested the battery and said it came back as fine and he pressed the bottom middle button twice which showed I had 40 applications running Apparantly the Virgin store should have shown me that once you click out of facebook/skype etc, it remains running in the background like a TV on standby if you like.

I had all those applications running thinking that when I pressed the middle button and went into another one, it would exit but it doesnt and it was making my phone drain the battery far too quickly.

He said it was a common problem and even the guy next to me was telling me the same thing happened to him.

I was advised at the end of each day, check what was still running and close it. Anyway, he did that and I did as I was asked and I had 100% charge this morning, just checking the phone now - hold on a sec, still got 100%.

So looks like its sorted.
