What are you missing from the UK?

Many of the pubs that my work pals go in are 'working man' pubs and when a female walks in, one would think one is flashing a minge or something.
I wouldnt mind a 'Rose and Crown', 'Nags Head', 'Fighting Cocks' - just for one night, Oh and if I could, a nice Sunday Roast by the fire at my Dads local.
My aircon isnt working - its leaking water so I have the fan on full blast, my dog is melting into the floor and although I am quite comfortable with my chilled glass of Magners, I could just do a christmassy English pub at this moment.
Mind you, Freo are having their xmas festival tomorrow so I am looking forwad to that.
When are you going back?

Oh Bernieboy
A few people I know in the UK thought I would come back after what happened to Mr PP.
I shudder to think if he had the accident where we lived before, I cant imagine Northwick Park hospital being quite so thorough in the detection of his blood clots on his lungs.
There is stuff I miss, family and friends ever so much, I would love to go to Dads local and surprise him.
But I feel safer where I live now than I ever did where I lived in London so I guess this is the better place for us.
Although the money worries will always be there I guess - they have that uncanny ability to travel to all four corners of the globe

I would like a full night of UK soaps/TV (cant afford foxtel), and I am not normally a pub goer in the UK but I would like just on this occasion to visit a pub with the word 'Head' or 'Arms' in it as in Kings Head, Queens Head, Coat of Arms, and I would like that pub to NOT have that TAB shit in it or whatever its called.
I would like the pub to have dimmed lights, steamed windows from the cold and frost outside, sparkling xmas decorations and the usual xmas tunes playing.
I want to be 'freeze my nips off' cold and walk into that pub and feel that initial 'Oooh its nice and warm in here'.
But this would only suffice for one weekend perhaps and then I could go back to the hot weather.
If that is OK of course.

Guys, please don't get romantic about the cold, crisp winter days "back home".
I had to scrape ice off my car in the week and the heater didn't work until I was nearly at my destination. I hate wearing layers of clothes and am sick of providing yet more hats, scarves and gloves as the kids lose them at school - again. Can't wait to walk the kids to school on icy pavements again and fall on my bum. Kids don't want to go outside because the wind is so biting and I can't be arsed to go out in the evenings. The pubs are all chocka too with people fighting to get to the bar and never being able to get a taxi home. All in all, the thought of these days is soooo much better than the reality. Just hold on to that thought.
Also, the thought of Xmas. I think it's easy to forget the nightmare of shopping anywhere in town once you get into December. Everyone is in a bad mood because they are being jostled or aren't able to get the "bargain" they want. The roads are chocka. And as for Xmas, myself and so many people I know are pulled in different directions by which relative to visit on the day (although I know many of you guys are going to find this bit really hard - as would I). And, when was the last time it actually snowed on Xmas day? It's normally damp, grey and drizzly. The TV of course is always a let-down too. There's pro's and con's to both.
If we do get over next year, please remind me of all this when I'm posting the same thread though!
