D'you know, you're not the first to say that. The thought never entered my head - which I think is a good thing 
(I had an accident in Singapore, resulted in a lot of pain, 2 operations, huge medical bills, a wrist that still doesn't work very well...people said I should sue the mall owners of the driveway where I slipped, but whose feet did I fall over? My own.

)Having said that, escalator accidents scare the bejesus out of me. I knew I shouldn't have watched which ever Final Destination that particular scenario featured in!
