Miss something about the UK ?
Do you phone home just to hear a friends voice ( despite it being 4 am UK time )?
Do you look at old photo's ?
Do you just busy yourself...go out for a walk, go shopping?
Or do you have a good cry ?
My friend has just txt me to say she is out shopping with her Mum, i thought long and hard about how i would feel when i am in Oz and i suddenly started to panic

When you miss something about the UK you balance it out by thinking of something you love about your new home!
Don't dwell & wallow, that will not make you feel any better.

We are now in brissie 5 weeks and its great, we miss nothing about the uk. We still phone home a couple of times a week at either 7 in the morning or 7 at night here the line is clearer than when we lived in England. The kids love the school here better than the uk and for my 15 year old that is saying something. The wife got a job in 2 weeks, me I start work on monday. We are going to our first meet up tonight and cant wait. Distance is all in the mind, but if you think you will miss everyone at home dont come cause you wont get the most from this great place and it deserves your best, life is 100 times better over here for us we use e-mail and my son uses msn to chat to all his mates back in the uk so nothing has changed there apart from the fact he spends more time on the pc chatting in the morning to his uk mates and the evening to his new oz ones. It has taken the 5 weeks to get used to the heat, shopping and driving but now wild horses couldnt drag me away. Come and you wont look back but dont get caught up in worries about the uk before you even leave, it wont help and you will be homesick before you even start. Dont worry about new friends if all of oz is like brissy you wont go long on your own. Hope this helps someone.

When I miss something about the UK, I'll let you know
I think positive....I don't carry my memories around as baggage, but as all the things, both good and bad, which have led me to this point, where I am utterly happy with where I live and who I am. Although I have done some pretty stupid things over the years, they have brought me here so I have absolutely no regrets.
Maybe it's best not to think about what you're going to miss....it seems to be tempting fate.

Sometimes people seem to think is is almost definate that you will miss things, or get homesick - it hasn't happened to me either ....
I keep in touch with those that matter - but have also moved on - and if you are not willing, or able to do that - then perhaps you need to look at what is right for you.
ps - I'm talking generally there...not replying personally to Carl
