Get a bottle of Magners - make sure its chilled, pour it into a glass because even the colour of it makes you want to gulp it down.

Actually, I could just do a G&T right now, only have 6 bottles of Tooheys in the fridge for Mr PP when he gets home.

I'll try the Magners PP.

I have a vat of Corona to bottle - must do it.....bit annoyed I have left it as long as I have..

I also have a great selection of red and white wine which a generous mate gave me from his wine tasting session. The boy has just bought a climate controlled wine cooler which has set him back the price of a small car...

So Mr PP sends ya there regularly does he?

Its a cheap but not bad at all, thirst quencher - I am looking at my empty bottle right now rather longingly but I have had two bottles already so thats enough for me.

Obviously the following list is based on where I live in Aus and may not apply to other bits of Australia.

The weather.

Kids playgrounds.

Libraries.

Public toilets.

The skiing.

The teenagers.

Traffic.

Boardwalks and other public walks.

Public spaces.

Barbies in the park.

Carols by candlelight.

Christmas shopping.

The beaches.

The wine.

Eating out.

Coffee.

Cycle routes and paths.

Parking.

...

That's how it is meant to be served, just the same in England. The whole Magners and ice was a big marketing campaign.

Its kak though, cos it just dilutes the cider. Personally I'd rather have the taste of pure cider rather than cider-flavoured water. Aussies serve all cider with mountains of ice and it really does spoil it.

I'd say that there is a lot of things better in Australia that people actually forget as they take it for granted.

Martin's list is a good one. Half these I don't even notice any more but if I moved back to the UK - and now with children in tow - would be a real nuisance.

These are the things that I've long taken for granted..I would also add ease of city and country life in a particular package with certain expectations not on a stellar salary. Martin you also talk about your part of Australia. For me, it's not geographic it's also demographic. If I lived in suburbia, and didn't work in my sector in the role I do(I've realised these could become deal breakers) then all the average things in Australia would get to me too and I'd forget the advantages...

I take it you have never been to Somerset or the South West. Proper cider is not served with ice.

The only cider you have with ice is the nasty mass-manufactured shite like Magners, Stongbow etc.

Well it's definitely a British thing

Not sure why anyone puts ice in it, it's as bad as the Asian countries putting ice in beer.
