Does it include the Indigenous suicide rate? That is sadly very high and affect Qld's figures.

High suicide rates : you need to look at the isolated lives people lead.
I'd expect suburbia to be another reason: a contributor even though G focuses outside the bigger towns in one of his posts.

I've noticed in Australia outside the cities (in particular) that often people do alot - they're kept busy - from 4x4ing and fishin and boatin etc but they don't really connect I'd imagine. It's a very compartmentalised life. The social fabric is there; it's solid, even a source of pride: there's community, but possibly it's kind of superficial. Take a weak soul who feels marginalized from that and it's a recipe.

Strong people take it all in their stride: the weak could self-destruct.

And of course, a 15 year perhaps has not yet quite got a car: and is less likely to die from health problems : suicide would have to feature! (Don't QLD teens get L plates at 15 and spend most of their time supervised?)

Yes. It's six times higher and begins a couple of years earlier. What causes the huge difference? Is it alcoholism or child abuse?
