Western Sydney Bushfires

Western Sydney Bushfires
There are numerous bushfires across the region, the worst of which seems to be at Castlereagh.
We're affected by the Winmalee/Hawkesbury Heights one but it looks as if we've caught a break with the wind strength/direction which is now blowing the fire down towards the Nepean River.
NSW RFS Current fires and incidents
Hope everyone in the area stays safe and evacuates if need be.
Also, make sure your bushfire survival plan is up to date (ours wasn't.. our original 'safe place' had gone back to the UK, the cheek of it!)

An emergency warning remains in place for a bushfire in Sydney's west, as temperatures in the city exceeded 30 degrees today together with strong winds.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) says the fire burning near Winmalee has destroyed one home and injured six firefighters.
A house was also destroyed by a blaze at Marsden Park which has since been downgraded to watch and act status.
Similar alerts are now also in place at Castlereagh, near Penrith, and at Windsor, where separate fires had threatened homes and property earlier this afternoon

I hope that everyone is ok- stay safe. (If some of them were started deliberately, as they are suggesting,)I hope they catch whoever did it.

Re: Western Sydney Bushfires
The Winmalee one sprang up where they were doing hazard reduction (what they were thinking of, doing hazard reduction today, I have no idea) so I'm surmising it was because of that.
Fortunately they've all been downgraded to Watch and Act which is great news for me and my bed

Watch and Act - Hawkesbury Road Winmalee (Blue Mountains) 11/09/13 14:12
Firefighters are working to fully contain a bush fire burning in the area around Winmalee and Hawkesbury Heights in the Blue Mountains. A Watch and Act alert is in place due to an increase in winds this afternoon.
Current Situation
The fire has burnt through more than 900 hectares of bushland. The fire is not fully contained.
Gusty winds are affecting the fire and there will be an increase in fire activity.
Over 230 firefighters are working to consolidate containment lines around the fire in the Hawkesbury Road and Yellow Rock areas, including along the Nepean River. This includes backburning and the use of three waterbombing aircraft.

A bushfire closed the motorway at Wyee, central coast / Lake Macquarie today. I work down that way.
Luckily, rain is forecast for the weekend.

Worth a heads up for tomorrow which is looking very dangerous indeed!
Temps could hit 40c in the west of Sydney and very strong winds also! Fire danger for tomorrow is already in the extreme catergory.
Anyone in or close to a national park or open grass land now is the time to get ready for tomorrow.
