I am so pleased with my 550D, still learning it though - even on automatic the pics can be blurred but get it right and the photos are brilliant.

I would when I can afford, get a better zoom lense but the camera itself is brilliant, oh yes just reminded myself to buy another SD card.

Let us know how your 60D turns out Alfresco.

Indeed I shall. Good cameras I believe! Can't wait.

SD cards are as cheap as chips these days.

Which one would you recommend for shooting HD video footage, I have started to use it for videos as well.

I have used Transcend for years now with no failures. And for the price they're a steal.

Must be class 6 or above for video.

Ebay without fail is always my first port of call and I have never found it cheaper elsewhere

Yep, I used eBay loads in the UK, but somehow have forgotten about it a bit in Oz. Dunno why.

Canon warranties are global, therefore the warranty is valid anywhere. I don't believe Nikon have this.

So in short, it doesn't matter if you buy a grey import from Canon as it will still be valid here

I'm not sure that is correct BS.

I have a Canon warranty card in front of me for an Ixus digital camera bought in Dick Smiths and and it states it is only valid in Australia and New Zealand.

Also if you look at the Canon.com website it says their warranties only cover USA and Canada.

makes no difference to the price differential of course.

My Canon is a grey import and my warranty is for one year to be repaired in Australia.

I got mine from Shoppingsquare.com in the end and it does say I have to take it to a Canon repair centre - I need to dig it out and check but it says I dont have to send it abroad to be repaired.

I hope it never breaks though Bix, I am totally in love with it and dream about other lenses and I already have bought it a tripod.

It does seem to be a grey area with consensus on the little bit of research I've done so far.

Well my crowd have a two year warranty but I'd have to send it back to them.

Good enough for me.
