we are going back to the uk

Well we have been here for 4 short months and now going back to the uk on 6th october.
We came over here on a 457 visa , hubby is a plasterer and his boss has been an arsehole from day one and has now decided he doesnt want to sponser us, we have 28 days to find another sponser but I have been trying to do this for the past 2 months without any luck.
We sold our home to move to Perth for a better way of life with our two daughters but since my hubbys boss has made it impossible for us we have ne choice but to go back to the uk and try to start again.
We have found it very difficult to get a new sponser because all the building trade want sub contractors and on a 457 visa we cant do it, if anyone is coming out here on a 457 visa please dont make the same mistake we have make sure you have a decent boss not an arsehole like we did.:(

Oh shit i feel so bad for you, i hate it when i see stories like this when people have basicaly been sold down the river and through no fault of their own. I really hope that something comes along and you dont have to give up your shot at a better life for you and your family. Good luck to you all.

I'm really sorry to hear about your circumstances.
It is a bleak warning to those on 457's which is really sad.
I hope something turns up for you soon.
Have you thought about posting in the immigration forum?
You may get some positive advice there.

Really sorry to hear about that....What a tw*t! :curse:

I know it's a lot of expense having to go back, but could you not try again when you get there?

Or what about a skilled visa? I know you will still have to go home but this may be an option to get back into Oz (unless hubby is over 45)

I know you probably thought of this already, so sorry if I am stating the obvious :o

Good luck anyway

That's really bad! So sorry.
Have you looked at other areas in Aus?

I am sorry to hear about this. Make sure before you go that you write a letter to your case officer who handled your visa letting them know how you have been treated.

That's horrible and one of the things that is rough about a 457 it's a shame you had to learn the hard way.

Have you asked about state sponsorship? I don't know if you are eligible although I know some tradies like roofers are

Wise words!
It must be hard on this type of visa becuase you are at the mercy of others.

i know a couple of people who it didnt work out with their sponsor yet they are still here......

before you pack up and move back get in touch with an agent and see if there is anything you can do.

Similar thing happened to my friends who came to Perth. He was a carpenter and was sponsored by a company who couldn't find him work. They lasted 3 months here before their cash ran out.
They had to return to UK too, luckily he got his old job back and are staying put.
These sponsored visa types are not trust worthy at times, i'm so sorry you had to experience it. Good luck.

speak to the perth office tell them whats gone on they are not horrid they have been very nice to a family that i know.

this happened to a family i know boss was a total git! expected the guy to work the next day after he arrived - he got in late evening -and it went down hill from there they had accomodation included with job - they got kicked out of that on sat afternoon at 2pm told to be gone by 6 :curse::curse:horrible

family went to perth immi office - told them what happened - were really good and helpful :thumbsup:

this happened a quite a few months ago now -

mr m has a new job and family are happy - but for a while it was very scary for the family - and really showed to us other 457 the downside of the 457.

i am lucky that my hubby works for a huge company in western au so they can't do this sort of thing to their employees that they bring over

its a shame that employers take the piss out of their employees who have come from the otherside of the world - there is ment to be safe guards to stop this from happening - speak to an agent get advice from them and speak to perth imm office - they are helpful and will help you if they can- at least they were have it on record that this guy did this so he cant do this to some one else

all the best

love tiff

Good advice. I would say to anyone reading this thread either here on a 457 or about to come, don't take the decision lightly there are huge downsides and don't come without knowing if you have a path to PR should the going get tough.

there are downsides to this visa- and not just crappy bosses but many other things

- but sometimes it does work -

but do make sure that you know what you are letting yourself in for x

please weigh up all the pros and cons before you jump in feet first

We wouldn't be here without a 457 but we are now PR, we had an excellent sponsor. I wouldn't have considered coming without knowing what my path to PR was.
