Water down the plughole?
#1
I bought a DVD on the gold coast from some website - cant remember the name but the girl said on it "the water goes down the plughole the wrong way". Does this mean it spins down anti clockwise as opposed to clockwise? Would never have thought to even look how the water goes dowm the plughole.

The theory in itself is correct but the corealis effect is far too small to overcome other external forces such as current flow, shape of the plug hole, the way the plug is removed etc. Scientists did an experiment a few years ago, basically they took a large sink in a sealed room, left it for about two weeks to make sure there was no movement in the water. The plug was removed from below to avoid moving the water. The plug hole has to be really small so the water drains slowly enough for the corealis effect to work and hey presto it works. So in normal circumstances its pot luck.
