Angry Warning for those living in Perth! Train shutdown...

Well those of us in Perth, we may have some traffic havoc ahead, ok, it is during the school holidays, and trains will still run during Perth Royal Show (thank heavens for us ) but still, no trains running for a week. Might take a bit longer for me to get to work on Marmion Av I think

http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/SHUT...1/Default.aspx

Don't use the train myself but can imagine the amount of extra cars on the roads!

At least I am on leave one working day of the 5. I will probably get up at 5am to drive the other 4 days.

I wasn't too impressed with Alannah's response - which was basically "tough tittties"

He's welcome to carpool with OH and I. He's still going into Leederville?

The train still goes to Leederville. You can either get that far and walk or get off at Glendalough and catch a bus.

Thanks Dorothy that is a nice offer but as Worzel says it doesn't save him anytime as he still has to get from Leederville to the Terrace. At the moment I am trying to talk him into taking the week off to do some decorating but he is currently adopting an 'I'm not listening, la la la la' attitude to it all.

I find their comments "all school buses will be available then for transport" funny, as most holiday programs such as YMCA have been booking the buses for all their excursions

Yeah I know but I would rather drive and drink my coffee in the car than stand on the train for 45 minutes with some wanker pressed up against me.

Don't they stand up and let the ladies sit down any more.......... or am i just being old fashioned?

My three lads will get a clip round the earhole if they don't offer their seat to the elderly; or females............. we've brought them up such that I don't even need to give them a swift reminder round the ear.

We went into the City a few weeks back on the train at rush hour in the morning with the kids. Even my 9 year old daughter offered a pregnant woman her seat. Obviously I didn't let her stand, I did but the offer was there and without prompting.

Oi! You calling me an elderly lady?

Oh wait. Just re-read the post. No, unfortunately during rush hour they don't - at least in my experience. My children too have been taught that you offer your seat to anyone who looks like they may need it more than they do. This includes women, people carrying lots of packages, elderly, parents with young childrem, etc.

I've seen some interesting stuff on the train late on Friday's but never anyone doing that! You would get a window seat if you got on at Clarkson though surely?. Trouble is I always get a 300lb bloke or bogan trying to deafen himself with his mp3 sitting next to me.
