Default UK Tax return - people getting a UK private pension

Long time no speak.

Is anyone here getting a UK private pension or other income (under the tax free threshold).

Do you have to do a UK tax return even though there will be no tax owing? If so do you also have to claim the tax free threshold every year?

The Mrs is retiring shortly and I don't really want to have anything to do with HMRC unless it's unavoidable.
