Default uk phone/sky/braodband contracts!!

Hi all
Just dawned on me that i have nearly 15 months left on my iphone contract
By the time we get over there i could have 8 months or so left,im sure i will have to pay the 8x £35 a month whats left?

I have thought about just taking it to australia with me but i surely wont benefit from someone in uk making a £2 a minute call

I have checked my sky and im not under contract apart from £10 a month left on my HD we took out 2 months ago,(sold house now) so will have to pay whats left!

Anyone else just leaving and will have to pay up there contracts?

jase

Just pay up what you owe or if you don't have any intention of going back to the uk then don't pay and do a runner, but you run the risk of your credit rating hitting the roof if you do decide to return to the UK. I paid all my debts before I left just in case I decide Oz wasn't for me and do return, but so far so good and have no intention of leaving just yet...If you decide to pay your debts don't forget to get your iphone unlocked by your mobile provider before you leave the country....

You signed the contracts knowing the terms and knowing that you may be leaving the UK. Pay what you owe them.

I'm not sure I get our your initial post then. The only other option to paying would be to not pay?

With visas/house selling/money/work slow/day to day life/car to sell/van to sell...........It has just dawned on me about these minor things!!
I was just wondering if they cut a bit of slack(i know they shouldnt ) but you never know

Even paying up the few hundred that will be left on the contract,is it worth taking a 02 uk phone to aus to see out the remainding months?
Which @ around £2 a minute,im gonan say no?!!!!

Not once have i mentioned that im not going to pay it,so please dont "presumme" im not

Sell the phone and use the proceeds to pay off the debt. Would it even work here anyway?

Get the phone unlocked and bring it over here. You would be flat nuts to use a UK phone while in Australia, which you have already guessed.

Not a bad idea. There are plenty of iPhone deals over here at the moment. Would probably still need to unlock it first

Assuming it's unlocked why wouldn't it ?

Assuming it isn't unlocked and I don't know how hard it is to do.

I would assume that as well as paying off your Telco you would probably have to give a Liver or Spleen to Apple ?

Unfortunately you cannot unlock iPhones! You can Jailbreak them but that is something totally different. iPhones are selling on eBay for good money at the minute.

Sell it and pay the contract in my opinion! That is what i will be doing this week!!

When we left we notified everybody of our move so that we could cancel contracts etc. Some companies were very good and waived the remaining charges as we were leaving the country (cable TV said they couldn't provide a service to us at our new address ) and some were less helpful and we just had to pay out or leave running until the end of the contract
