Default UK Council Tax

Just recieved a letter stating our council tax for the 2009/10 year will be reduced by £3.24 for the year!

That's a gargantuan £0.0088767123287671232876712328767123 per day!

Apparently the Police budget has been reduced by £1.6 million, so the reduction is passed onto us. I guess crime is going soar now!

The breakdown of the UK council tax used to make me cringe.

Your £1000 bill is made up of:
£800 for Council house bludgers
£600 for running the council
£30 for local services
£10 for police
£5.30 for Fire Brigade.

I don't know if it's true but I heard a rumour that somewhere they were thinking of including tree houses in the council tax valuations

It is good to see that Politics is the same everywhere:
  • Baroness Andrews, the "Labour" Lords Minister for Local Government, said that that a tree house would be taken into account during the banding of a property for council tax if it "adds value".
  • A spokesman for The Department for Communities and Local Government said: "It is ridiculous to suggest adding a tree house will affect the council tax of a property.
