Yeah, though I am pretty pleased with the speed of my TPG connection. Not having an issue at all watching Stan. Maybe I'm right near the exchange.

We are at the furthest point from our very overloaded exchanged. We're with TPG. We are lucky if we get 1.5mb. It usually averages between 0.9-1.2mb. Not enough to download Foxtel catchups. Downloaded the final TG episode on iPlayer at the weekend in SD. It took all night.

Downloading digital moves is nigh on impossible.

Does sound like an exchange distance issue.

I wonder if getting a massive data plan on a mobile will help. 4G is seriously quick.

Just did a speed test on my TPG. 14.42 Mbps

Yup. I have 4g on my phone and can get it as we are on a hill. No chance of getting a massive data plan though without paying big bucks. Plan I currently have is 4gb or 6 gb (I forget which) a month, unlimited calls, texts etc and is $60 a month IIRC. Made the mistake once of forgetting I had tethered my phone to the laptop and downloaded a film. An expensive exercise that was!!

Around 18Mbit here, probably more if I replaced the dodgy cable.

Horrifically slow - nobody should have to rely on 4G to get decent speeds, it's just too limited and congested. This is 2015 and everyone should be able to rely on at least 10Mbit unmetered for $50 pm by now.

It'll work quite adequately on a 6mb connection and claim it will work as low as 1.5 Mb's..

Netflix is excellent on low speed connections - it cuts quality before it buffers (something that I see the BBC has adopted for iplayer on Windows)

I have never had Netflix buffer - ever. The worst are UK streams like 4oD, 5 and ITV - virtually unwatchable at times, even on a good connection

Those ones are bad like that when watching in the UK - hate to think how bad it gets streaming from Australia.
