So is Trump which if you believed all the press madness when he was first elected, Russia, impeachment, etc is quite a feat in itself.

Yes, I did notice that.

Overall, I like him and he's doing a pretty good job - especially as he's centre-left and not really a conservative. Yes, he can be somewhat hypocritical at times but what politician isn't? He's just more blatant with his hypocrisy. This steel tariff story is another matter and he's dead wrong. Import duties will be retaliated against - making it a race to the bottom - ala 1930's. Friends can become enemies. China are no mugs. Any American exporter will be shitting themselves over this - China, for instance, could cancel every Boeing airliner on order and buy Airbuses instead. So some steel jobs will be created but export manufacturing jobs - highly skilled/paid jobs - will be lost. A zero sum game

Ridiculous

The problem is the total failure of the GOP, both to have a clue, and to do their job.

Trump and the cabal should have been impeached early last year, but the GOP in congress feels that if they take out the trumpster, they will suffer in support from the 30% loony far right that are still supporting the obvious traitor.

Upshot is not only are trump and his cabal going to need to be jailed for their manifest crimes, so are a significant percentage of the GOP.

As the finance advisor that's just resigned said :

It’s worse than you can imagine. An idiot surrounded by clowns. Trump won’t read anything – not one-page memos, not the brief policy papers; nothing. He gets up halfway through meetings with world leaders because he is bored. And his staff is no better. Kushner is an entitled baby who knows nothing. Bannon is an arrogant prick who thinks he’s smarter than he is. Trump is less a person than a collection of terrible traits. No one will survive the first year but his family. I hate the work, but feel I need to stay because I’m the only person there with a clue what he’s doing. The reason so few jobs have been filled is that they only accept people who pass ridiculous purity tests, even for midlevel policy-making jobs where the people will never see the light of day.”

And we forgot the immigration saga, the wall, along with that completely bias babble you just posted from someone else selling the anti Trump message.

....... and he is still there.

When they look at it in 50 years time, given the adversity, he will probably labelled thr great President in US history.

He did say he would bring everything within. Starts with steel, whats next?

Agree though, if he tariffs stuff, he will get the same in return.

A very bad game this one.

He just needs to focus on the building of infrastructure he promised.

That someone is Trump's top economic adviser and Goldman Sachs exec who's resigning in disgust at Trump's stupid trade tax tantrum.

As I said, that's down to GOP failure - something they will need to pay for.

Actually they might well say "the traitorous last president of the former united states"...

He's done some really good things such as his tax cuts and Jerusalem, but this is just plain stupid. He uses the stock market as a barometer of his success but a trade war could (would) smash that. Then what?

History shows that trade wars cause more harm than good - depression and even war can be the result

Madness - but I think that congress will have the final say on this

History will see him as one the greats - but I don't think he will get re-elected. He will be too old then anyway

No surprises whose aboard the wobbling Trump carriage on this forum. The usual zealots whom consider history pure detail and might makes it alright.

But still a good old fashioned trade war may go in the direction to cease some of the rot and so called 'free markets'.

Trump may well go down in history.....probably not as the greatest but among the more memorable.

If you were ever up to speed with history, you would know that this thread has very few if any Trump supporters. However there were a few of us that agreed that he was a better choice than Hillary.

Since we have moved beyond the Hillary v Trump debate, there are some who want to criticize every move and never compliment anything, and some who are happy to look at each move objectively and comment on each in their own right. You fall into the former zealout camp no doubt with an agenda and all.

Yes this trade thing is going to get ugly. Not a great move by Trump.
