Exclamation Transfer oz reg plates to uk?

Hey people, just wondering if it's possible to transfer oz vehicle registration plates to the uk to be legally used on the roads?

If so, how?

Thanks.

I very much doubt it can be done, unless they are with an actual car that is also being moved over on a temporary basis.

We can't even transfer them Interstate on a permanent basis.

I'e seen european rego plates in Canberra.. even seen some israeli plates in Sydney... I suspect they came with their cars though.

Seems like a great effort for them to bring their car to Oz.

No but they can be physically transferred to be illegally used on the roads?

Personally, I'd love to live in Cornwall if I ever went back and I'd love my number plate to read "Cornwall...Yarp it or Narp it!"....and leave!"

It's cheaper to bring them, than to buy bullet proof cars here

You might have seen Euro style plates here. You can get them in NSW, Vic and Qld. Not sure about the ACT. They look like German plates but with the letter before the decal showing the state. The NSW ones look like they come from Nuremberg.

The standard NSW plates have started looking a bit like UK military plates.

No. I've seen some proper euro plates in Australia... on cars with steering wheels installed on the incorrect side.

Maybe its the embassy staff that ship them out.. i don't know ...

embassy staff often have other special (aussie) plates though that are seen everywhere in canberra..

I was thinking that the DIPS would have DIP plates. Maybe some want to import their cars for their spouses or something. Probably some tax dodge.

I would guess if they are relatively new cars and left hand drive then they would be here on a temporary basis. I think left hand drive cars have to be over a certain age to be permanently allowed on the roads here (i.e. they have to be classic cars).

maybe..

as an aside..... it's quite amusing to see cars with DC plates parked outside some of the porn superstores here in Canberra. Not the best look for their country or the diplomatic community..
