Hi,
What are the advantages and disadvantages of top loader vs front loader ?
What brand seems to be good in current market ?

We like Bosch - others like Asbo? (Or am I mixing up with a UK term?)
Despite being a Pom in Aus, I am not genetically predisposed against top loaders - we seriously considered one when our last Bosch gave out. Ability to add an orphaned sock in there halfway through the wash was a bonus....
In general, technically the Front Loaders seem to use less water and seem flash. The top loaders seem more practical but use more water I think, but its common to use cold water here. A environmental aspect of Australia living to be commended perhaps....I personally wash my workshirts on cold.

I'm sure I've contributed on quite a few threads about this.
Front loader is the go. Uses less water and is kinder to clothes seems to be the consensus.
Mine is a Bosch, and it does have a 15 minute "freshen up" cycle that I find handy for the odd item. It has lots of other cycles too but I don't use many of them.

I feel the front does less damage to clothes and is more environmental friendly with its smaller amounts of water.
I use cold in mine all the time, it has a built in dryer too, that I have never used. I prefer the size as it fits better in a small laundry.
I do admit the lost sock irks me occasionally, but it just has to wait for the next wash.

My front loader is awesome as it has a pause button and you can then open the door and add the extra sock....

Front loaders good
Top loaders bad
Save water, dont ruin your clothes and you can stick your tumble dryer on top of it thus savingnspace.....
But watch you buy the right washing powder/liquid... You can end up with a heck of a mess if you put top loader into a frontloader.... And dont ask how i kniw...
Ditto miele... If we were flush I'd go miele everytime!

Interesting though that this is one thing on which veiws have changed over the years of BE - this was one of the hottest topics 8-9 years ago and the posters who ate that time had been here a while often used to swear by toploaders
as did most of the Aussies I worked with, frontloaders were pretty new and a lot of people had no experience of them. MiL was always highly suspicious of ours, was convinced it was run by witchcraft, I mean how else could the water heat up

Also have a frontloader Bosch, love it and wouldn't consider anything else, apart from Miele obviously.

Things do change, but I seem to remember it more as Frontloaders were always the go and there was a bit of a scoff at TopLoaders...with some enterprising arrivals doing fine by their 'Tops'.
I'm sure I am safe though when I think that everyone is coming around to 'Front's when in the past they were 'Tops'. Seems more and more people are going down that route.

Front every time! Had a top loader in first rental place - couldn't cope with towels on the spin and kids pj tops came out 4ft wide!
Don't get the cold wash thing - always use hot for whites and sheets/towels.
My pal here has dust allergy and has been told by doc to wash all bedding in at least 50Ëš
