TimberFloorAus RIP
It is with great sadness that I bring news of the peaceful passing of a great former member of this site.
Timberflooraus (Steve) helped so many on this site to research and settle in their newfound life. He also took great pride in winding up as many people as he could at the same time. He was always one of the more formidable posters for years until he left this forum. I know a lot of you with agree that he was one of the most funny and unpredictable posters this forum ever came across. Timber gave me some of the best laughs on this forum and also became a very good friend to myself and a lot of others on here. He will be missed by so many. I’m sure you will join me in wishing his family condolences from expats all over the world. He was known fondly by my son as the phantom because he had heard so much of him but never met him until about 5 years ago. From that day my son had some sort of bond with him. Timber had a knack of doing that to people. He could make them like him, even when he was ripping the pish out of them. I and a few other expats were lucky to spend a long weekend with him and debs about this time last year in Cairs, and what a mental weekend that was. As usual he was the star of the show. Kept the party going every night. I am so glad I had that time because it will always stay with me. If he is looking down on me right now he would be laughing his head off at me for typing this and calling me a sad git. Timber RIP my friend! |
Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Thank you for posting Soapy.
Timber was a major player on BE, and a very funny and clever man in real life. Although we didn't always see eye to eye I have many happy memories of time spent with him, and am raising a glass to him tonight. Gone much too soon, my thought are with Debs and the family. RIP Steve, you infuriating but lovable character. |

Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Thank you on behalf of everyone who ever had assistance, took advice from or bantered with Steve for writing this difficult post!
He was truly a character, one of a kind and someone who literally made me laugh out loud to my screen so many times I looked like a freak, or even more so than usual! He was always willing to offer a helping hand, a place to stay and in my case even to loan his camping gear when I came on a trip to QLD whilst living in Melbourne, I know he'll say he got bitten quite a few times but it never stopped him offering! He also was perceptive and noticed when you were not on top of your A game and a message of support or enquiry as to your well being would regularly be sent out, just because he cared! Even when he was being belligerent he was funny!!! You couldn't really take offence... They say only the good die young and it must be true cos Ste was truly a gem! Thoughts are with his loving family and close friends... RIP Ste, you'll be greatly missed. With much love, Lau xx |

I am very sad to read this and my thoughts go out to his wife and his family.
He certainly kept it interesting around here, there was never a dull day. :D |
Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Just heard the news myself.
Stunned isn't the word! The good lord certainly takes the best for himself. I can honestly say, that Steve was the nicest bloke that anyone could wish to meet. A real diamond amongst the rough. Funny, sincere, genuine and just an all round bloody decent bloke. Definitly one of the highlights of both mine and Carolines time in Aus. Sadly missed but NEVER forgotten. RIP Steve. Sending sincere condolences to Steve's family. In our thoughts. |

Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Such sad news :(
Thoughts are with Timbers family Steve was a great character who livened up the forum with his no nonsense posts, even stirring up the odd revolution and Y o b r o exodus ;) I didn't know him personally but he helped me out when I was in a difficult situation and for that I am grateful. RIP Steve x |

Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Not been on this site for a looooooooong time - laptop broke using an old laptop saw BE in favorites clicked and saw this.
Timber was a genuine, kind and funny guy. RIP mate:( |
Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
First time I had direct contact with Steve was in the chat room where I had to ask how many hands he had as his typing was so bloomin fast.
I soon realised what a funny bloke he was and how he liked to tongue-in-cheek stir the pot on occasions. I started doing the devils advocate on him leaving some rather ludicrous one liner posts taking the total opposite view to him. He would respond asking me to justify my stupid viewpoint and I wouldn't answer which wound him right up. Then one day he replied saying it won't work any more as Soapy had told him what I was doing. I guess I had my best insight into the man when I was doing Admin work for him on the YO. In that time I didn't agree with a few things that went down but I could always openly voice my opinion to Steve and discuss stuff with him. It was his forum so he would always do what he wanted but he would always listen. Steve and I would chat about how much we hated FB but eventually we both ended up on there. I am not a big user but he got into the swing in his usual infectious way and I must admit to reading virtually every post he made. I have always been in awe as to how he crammed so much into a 24 hour day; my day will now be lacking that little something. RIP Steve and thank you Bro. My thoughts are with your family. |

Very sad news. He kept us well entertained  |
Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
Pap was one of the people closest to him. I asked him if he would share his insite into the guy he knew. Im sure it will take him a while because its really hard to type from the heart.
But it will be another side of timber. |

Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
I didn't do him justice earlier. When the news reached me this morning I was numb, didn't know what to say.
My heart goes out to Debs and the kids. Mate. He was a mate. He involved me in a number of his ventures from way back to not so long ago, I count myself lucky to have known him this way. To me Steve's best attribute was his attitude. He put everything in, no half measures. He was the can do guy, not one to sit and wait for opportunity to come to him. He'd have a go, not just a go but the whole shooting match. Life was his oyster and he'd damn well eat it, probably in a vindaloo paste washed down with a few beers. He worked hard but you could just tell he enjoyed what ever he was doing. And nothing was too much trouble for him. I don't believe in afterlife. But I can't help but think that some of Steve's attitude, the spirit in which he enjoyed life shaped my own attitude and probably others who knew him. That is what I meant by legend. |
Re: TimberFloorAus RIP
RIP Ste
Totally shocked by the news. Thought he'd been quiet on FB recently. My heart goes out to Debs and the kids. Had some great nights at currymunchers. Gone but not forgotten :( RIP ya bugger xxxx |
