Things seem to be moving quickly now!

Hi

Had our medicals on friday the doctor said he is very busy with bookings for meds, so who knows could feb be the month were our dreams can be realized??

When do DIAC ask for final payment is it just before they finally approve?

Good luck to those pending meds results, I can almost feel the heat of the WA sun.:fingerscrossed:

I think I may be missing something here.....what is the final payment? I thought the full visa app fee was paid up front?

Hi - well done on getting this far. Someone correct me if I am wrong but you don't have to pay a second installment do you??? See info below cut and paste from the DIAC website.......

Important: Fees may be subject to adjustment at any time. Visa Application Charges may be subject to adjustment on 1 July each year. This may increase the cost of a visa.

The 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge must be paid at the time of application.

The 2nd instalment of the Visa Application Charge for dependents aged 18 years or over with less than functional English must be paid before the visa is granted.

You only need to pay the second installment if you have dependents, like a wife, and they have a less then vocational knowledge of English on their IELTS tests. If they have over (I think) 4 on all tests then you don't need to pay.

EDIT: Just saw it says Liverpool under your nick. You aren't taking IELTS then at all, are you?

Good grief you had me worried there!! I thought we had paid the last of the fees with our meds and pcc

Phew! We might actually have some money left for flights then

We were all wondering about the time frame for our CO and thinking it would be Feb or March and we may all have our visas by then.
Planning to use some of my airmiles to validate. The rest may go towards and upgrade for the moving flight.

Re: Things seem to be moving quickly now!

We have our meds on Tuesday next week, tho not worried, we had already done ours last year, but you never know.

I dont feel that our visas will be issued in feb/march, i think it will be more 4-6 months before we hear from our CO after everything has been met/finalized. Hubby spoke to DIAC 2 weeks ago and these where the predicted timelines they gave us then, but also said it could be longer depending on what the c/o found in our files and whether she required more information.

Our aim is hopefully to be there before our daughter starts school......in the meantime life goes on:D

Still got house to sell and all the other stuff to do as well, can't see us being anywhere near Oz before xmas. But it's somethung to look forward to.

Re: Things seem to be moving quickly now!

Snap........We have had our house on the market for the past 9 months, as we had already decided to move even if we were not accepted.
We have had no offers on the house, and we live in Dorset, so a very nice part of the UK to live in.
We might end up going with little savings at this rate, either that or i send hubby over first while i tie things up at this end.
I predict, still being here in 18 months time, which as long as we have our visa suits us just fine.......we are not ready to hop on a plane tomorrow, and if doctors are busy doing lots of medicals (which they are) that means CO have alot of work to do, so it isnt going to happen overnight.:)

Re: Things seem to be moving quickly now!

We have decided to rent our out for the first year. 1. because house prices are pretty rubbish at mo 2. the exchange rate is also rubbish and 3. Incase we dont like it in Austrlia  (unlikely)

Once our visa has been approved :fingerscrossed: we are going to rent the house, then live in a 1 bed flat or even a static caravan for the summer, then pack our cases and go!

Sounds a bit mad, but the stress of moving house and flying to Oz in the same week sounds a bit much for me, especially with two littleluns. Moving out asap will leave us with our stuff to ship in storage and a few more quid in the bank each month, then when we are ready, we grab our cases, check out and leave!! Yeehah!

Sue,

We must have been twins seperated at birth !!! we have been talking about doing the same, statics are a bit pricey in the south because its a bit of a holiday haven, we live near poole/bournemouth/sandbanks, we have been looking arond for ages but cannot seem to find anything cheap enough, our mortgage seems to be cheaper.
Bit of a nightmare when you have children aswell, but we will get their
Wish we did it 4 years ago when things were a bit more rosie in the UK

Lovely to hear somebody is in the same boat......recently i have started to have a little wobble about leaving everything that is familiar to us.....only natural i guess, its a big thing for us all and getting a CO makes it all a bit more real.

Same here, but children adjust a lot quicker than us adults! They make friends within a flash. Best to do it when they are young as would be a big move for a teenager. I keep getting wobbly, but at then end of the day if you dont like you you can always come back! We will always have a british passport

I dont think it will be 4-6 months, why would it take that long. That time would eat into your valadition time, as your 12 month validation goes from date of your medical.
I hope I am right and your wrong on this one. As soon as its granted we can go & I really hoping for May at latest to fly.

We got full asking price last Jan, for house so took it & living with my parents so its really getting down to the nitty/gritty now.
Our case officer told us 2 weeks ago that she was satisfied with our submitted paperwork & only thing waiting now was medicals.
I just logged on to file & all our meds are saying FINALISED as of 02/02/2011.
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

We will get there in the end Sue. We could go as soon as our visa is issued, but i want to make sure life is going to me confortable for us when we arrive and not have to worry about money all the time, otherwise that would make me miserable and want to come back.

We are going ro rent out our house, and cash it in when the market starts to go up again......which it will, the UK always dips into a recession approx every 25 years then goes back up again. Hold onto you house Sue, the market will improve then you will be quids in

When i stated the 4-6 this is just what DIAC informed us of, it's not from my crystal ball that many people use on here:blink:

If you think 4-6 months, then you dont get let down when you dont receive it next month:frown:

I wish EVERYBODY on here luck:thumbsup:

Hope you're right but just be aware (probably already are but it bears repeating to those coming up behind you) that DIAC don't worry about your validation period being cut into, they grant when they grant and you can only hope for the best. As is always said, think worse case scenario and you can only be pleasantly surprised by a quick grant. :)

We will be staying with my father as my Mum lives abroad (not Oz) and hubby's parent have both been dead a long while. Got two kids but grown up and not coming. So once house is sold i can star job hunting and selling everything.

Irony is I've got the chance of a really good job and don't know whether to take it in the circumstances. CV would look a bit bad.

Just something I discovered today about caravan rental which you may have not taken into consideration when you weighed up the cost. We have been quoted a 6 month rental for about £100 a month less than our mortgage, which isnt great, but that includes all your utilities. So you need to remember you will also not be paying, gas, electric, water, council tax, landline phone, broadband, sky tv, house insurance. That alone saves us about £400 extra per month. Just thought I would mention, as I didnt consider that at first

Sometimes job's arent always as good as they seem......... i dont know how old you are but i suggest that IF you do get granted a visa, is it not worth validating it by a trip to OZ and you can always come back for upto 5 years i believe.....worth considering, tho these things tend to change alot.

Figment, also consider, it's not always about jobs, its about quality of life and lifestyle, OZ is the biggest island in the world and full of oppotunity, im sure you would get a really good job their and better paid.
