Things to do in Kewarra / Palm Cove
We are just booking up our apartment and wonder if there are any web sites on the local Kewarra / Palm Cove areas. eg restaraunts / shops ...
A google search just seems to bring up the associated resorts and what the associated complexes have to offer.
Thanks

That's because there is not a great deal at either place tbh!
Palm Cove def has more going on in terms of bars & restaurants than Kewarra which I don't think has anything much at all.
Is this a holiday that you are planning? Were you hiring a car?

+1 what Sal says!
Although, we did go to a lovely place in the mountains nearby (Kuranda?) and had a fab massage at a hippy market! And there was a nice bush walk and a waterfall, and a cable-car but we didn't do that.
Can highly recommend Port Douglas if you haven't already booked!

Kewarra
A place where people live but not much there apart from the beach. Bring a book and sandwiches.
Palm Cove
A real holiday destination with lots of resorts, hotels etc.
A pretty good Esplanade and beachfront.
Several restaurants besides the ones in hotels and some very highly rated ones (and expensive)
Not much shopping apart from "select" (expensive) clothes.
Fishing off the pier.
Paddle boat / canoe off the beach.
Served well in terms of a pick-up point for various tours around Cairns.

Port is further North & very popular with some. Have a search on here as Soapy has just been there & posted quite a number of pics.
Wherever you go, if you are staying for a week, you probably want to look at hiring a car.
There have been several threads recently on holidaying in Cairns area & what to do. Have a search.

It's only 20 mins to cable cars etc as others mentioned, well worth doing, we loved it.
I'd certainly go back, Port Douglas is a bit too commercial for us but each to their own.

We went to Palm Cove last year and loved it - we wanted a relaxing holiday and to be able to walk in to restaurants for dinner, we self catered.

You should also bear in mind that in Port, most of the resorts are some distance out of the town centre where all the restaurants are. There is a shuttle bus service from the hotels, but you pay for it.

Personally I would go for Palm Cove & hire a car. You would then be in easy reach of Cairns, the Tablelands, Kuranda, Daintree & Port Douglas.
