Can anyone help me?
We have had our medicals now, so there's nothing more to do other than wait for our visa's to come through.
I know that there's lots of things to sort out and tie up in the U.K before we emmigrate to OZ but i don't know where to start, can anyone help?
i'd be very grateful if someone could advise me,
Thanks,
Molesey.

Start making lots of lists.
These are some of the things on my list at the moment:
- Sell things you are not going to ship
- Get car valeted and put car/s up for sale
- Submit tax return
- Make list of companies/people who'll need your change of address
- Make list of all services etc you need to cancel and find out how much notice they need. eg BT only needs 7 days notice.
- Book date for shipping
- Book flights
- Start looking at what car/s to buy in Oz
- Start looking at house prices/area where to rent/buy in Oz
- Start thinking about how to transfer money from UK to Oz
- Start thinking about what Oz bank to open an account with

Make small lists - then it looks more like hills instead of one big mountain.

I know it all seems overwhelming but my biggest piece of advice would be to get all your paperwork in order. Get your online banking up and running and ask for overseas contact numbers for all companies (financial and other) you may need to call in the future as the 0800 call centre numbers are not accessible from Oz. Check ALL your direct debits and make sure you cancel them (I paid two years of AA membership for my car after I left because it was DD'd from my credit card and they didn't cancel it even though I swear I called them before we left). When you call to give notice of termination make a note of time and date and who you spoke to so that if it does go wrong and you get charged an extra month or two of cable tv you have something to throw at them when you call. This all might sound paranoid but it took us months to get everything sorted out after we left and there were more mistakes than we thought possible due to inefficient UK call centres not processing cancellation requests.
All this sounds hard but if you start now and make a file up with notes on each bill and all the numbers it will save you so much heartache and late nights calling the UK to sort things out.
Only other piece of advice would be to sell all your white goods and buy new ones when you get here. We brought our fridge/freezer and washer/dryer with us and found that the fridge is way too small (seemed huge in the UK) and the washing machine short circuits the house every time it goes on spin cycle and we can't get anyone to fix it as they don't do that brand here. TVs can't come either as the frequency is different.
Cheers, hope this helps.
