It's worth it to be serenaded in your own home by one of the World's most beautiful bird songs. This pair really does sing for its supper. And now they've brought their babies down into the garden too. So cute.

Those birds have so much character. There was one fighting with it's reflection in my wing mirror last year.

There a Hitchcock film you should catch which might just change your mind about these murderous bloody bar stewards being your "mates"

Try giving them just a little bit of shredded cheese. They love it. Ours have been coming to us for nearly 7 years and have learnt to co-exist with our resident butcherbirds. They even sing with each other now.

I must admit I don't really like birds and I think those two look positively evil.

The only time I get upset is when the male bird bullies the babies when they get a bit older... or chases the poor little crested pigeons. That is a bit mean, but the mother-bird is just sweet.

We have a few that make regular appearances. One particular bird has learned to associate the noise of the toaster popping with a free crust. I sit at the table eating it & he appears at the door, the dog & him compete for the little bit of crust I don't butter lol.

People use the phrase "bird brain" but from what I see, birds are really quite smart.
