I don't know about the rest of Herts. All I know is that West Leith is drop dead gorgeous. Tree-lined roads, very little traffic, tiny population, dead quiet, and open fields all around.

My kind of place.
West Leith is actually in Bucks and I agree, it is lovely. I know the area very well. We have friends all around there in Aston Clinton, Drayton Beauchamp, Aylesbury, Wing. Aldbury is quaint and was used for the filming of 'Shillingbury Tales'. Anyone remember that series?

My answer to Ozzies question is an emphatic YES. I'd go home tomorrow if circumstances allowed.

I make it sound so attractive, don't I?

I've never heard of this Rothschild place before, So I will make a point of visiting, seeing as I will be within 35 miles or so, when I visit family in Mkeynes next month.

For someone that was born and bred in the UK, I have a very limited knowledge of my own country... except for football grounds .... It's that lack of knowledge and exposure thats eating away at me.

All I remember of Tring is fishing the reservoirs around there. Can't remember all there names, but I think one was Startops?

Awesome fishing, don't know much about the Museums though

Look here.

This is another museum worth visiting if you have nieces or nephews to take.
Roald.

Nip down to Aldbury village, well worth a look.

Aah, the history and a lovely pub too.

A house in Richmond or riverside St Margarets in Surrey with no mortgage, a holiday cottage in St Ives & a job offer of restaurant critic at a national newspaper

I love Aus but I also loved the UK-just couldn't afford a relaxing lifestyle there..

One major and unique thing I have to look forwards to when I get back. Is my mate is a ranger at Woburn Safari park. So I'm getting a personal tour, up close with the Lions and other animals, so will be taking my camera for some very special shots.... not too special I hope.

If you go down that way Ozzie pop into Ashridge - stunning parks, should see some deer wandering around. Pop into the college and say hi to my sister - she works there

Well thank the lord for that.

I love Ashridge, we used to go there quite often on a Sunday all year round. Great for riding your bikes, woodland walks and getting lost, as we once did.

No it was a typo. Never been to Albury although friends used to live in Stortford Ashridge is glorious. Bonus of sister working there, we can (could) go around the private gardens instead of mixing with the hoi polloi Used to use the college pool as well until my sister got caught in there with her boyfriend having a skinny dip at about 1am one night She's 50 for crying out loud. Does she have no shame
