Space dust, a quarter of bon bons (strawberry or Lemon or that odd tasting white bon bon) Paninni stickers and doublers, badges were always the best along with the top players.
Cola cubes or pips, rancheros, fruit salad and black jacks, refreshers. Melt in your mouth Flying saucers with sherbert in.
Pogo sticks, leg warmers, fingerless gloves.
loads more keep em coming.

playing out in the snow in rubber wellies and not going home until your fingers and toes were frozen solid
missing a day or two from school because the heating pipes had frozen or the buses weren't running
grass sliding down hills on pieces of cardboard boxes in the summer
racing down the avenue on roller skates that tied over your shoes and could change size thanks to a wing nut in the middle of the sliding metal pieces ....... anybody else have a pair of these ?

we had a home made go-kart too ... though dad made it for us ... using old pushchair and pram wheels - wood - rope and bits of melded metal. It even had space for a passenger behind the driver.
It's a good thing he also made a brake as we would no doubt have ended up on the "big" road at the bottom of the hill ...... or worn our shoes out using them as brakes - and that would only have got us into trouble with Mum.... even though they were our "playing out shoes".
Anybody else have that ... 3 pairs of shoes
1 pair for best
1 pair for school
1 pair of old shoes for playing out.

Oh my god the roller skates just as you get a good speed up the bloody wing nut would work loose and you'd only have half a skate on you foot , oh the brusies.

I remember knock down ginger
and also British Bulldogs Charge in the school playground.
Another playground game was to set up a tiny wicket against a wall using the old fashioned wooden dolly pegs and then take turns at knocking it down with a tennis ball.
