You probably won't know a Scottish comedy program called Rab C Nesbitt but in one scene Rab's wife gets all dressed up and when she comes into the room Rab's breath is taken away. He says 'Mary doll, you look (long pause to think so he doesn't say anything too revealing about his feelings) no bad'.

I'd reckon the petrol station was at the start of the A75 at Gretna/Gretna Green.

I remember Rab - so funny :)

I said a while ago I'd post some Lake District. I'm not sure how this will come out as it is 4 photos stitched together so I'm not sure if the dimensions will suit. Here goes (Derwentwater near Keswick):

I'm not sure who runs it now. Here's another pub for you - the Lochinvar at Dalry (full name St John's town of Dalry), on Saturday, farmers market was on in the Town Hall; nice autumn tints on the front of the pub:

Thanks. I couldn't catch their 4 doggies in the rock pool at the same time!

Bit of banter - the guy made the mistake too many times of calling me uneducated, knowing little about the sports he professes to be an expert on and keeps banging on how I'm in a Melbourne bubble.

Yesterday was a lovely autumnal day; started off with a little fog and no wind, sun broke through and it was clear skies until late afternoon. So here's the view early morning; then down to the tennis club for a hit and took photos at the loch (club is by the loch) then before lunch down to Portling for a walk and back to watch the rugby in the afternoon! It's interesting to compare the Portling ones with those of the week before when the weather wasn't quite as good.

Bladnoch near Wigtown has Scotland's most southerly distillery (nice peaty water off the Galloway Hills running by the front door in the River Bladnoch). It now has an Australian connection as it was taken over 3 months ago by an Aussie when the previous company went into liquidation.

Bladnoch Distillery bought by Australian entrepreneur - BBC News

Thanks; it's a well known local spot for autumn photos. My friend says he's waiting for the perfect shot with maybe a gypsy caravan and horse on the road as well as the autumn leaves! It doesn't look right with a car or a person. The alternative would be a red squirrel in the foreground. ;)

'No worries'. There's another Rockcliffe photo I took which is below. On the theme of the very small world we live in - I was at the Sports Council meeting a few nights ago at which we decided the annual sports awards and one award is going to the resident of 6 Moss Road Terrace!! (Sheila McMurtrie, nee McDonald, has just won the Ladies Championship at Dalbeattie Golf Club for the astounding 34th time!! Her sister Maureen has won the Ladies Championship at Dalbeattie Tennis Club 28 times which is some achievement by them)

Some photos from further afield. I had to go up to Edinburgh for a Tennis Scotland meeting so here's some photos in Edinburgh and the lovely countryside between Edinburgh and Moffat on the way back. Arthur's Seat behind Merchants of Edinburgh golf course, Broughton village, River Tweed etc. The light wasn't very good for photography being autumn and mid afternoon:
