(If you don't know what the famous Kelpies in Scotland are read about them) here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kelpies

The maquettes (1:10 replicas) are currently on display down by Kirkcudbright harbour. Here's some photos of the Kelpies, harbour, Maclellan's Castle etc taken today:

Carsethorn was a major port for immigration to the new worlds ,the auld jetty supports can still be seen (in 06 anyway) and along from the INN along by the public toilets is the building that convicts were housed before going to Australia. come on man some photos from round Caerlaverock way/shearington village:rofl::p so I can see what happened tae the farm cottage I lived in when I first got married... keep up the guid work.

Thanks, yes I knew the possibility that some my forebears may have set out from Carsethorn.;) We don't often get over Caerlaverock/Shearington way but will some time.

Yes, it was extremely well done and the photo doesn't show all the correct references to the book and film.

Yes, where we live all the small villages and towns have an annual flower show which often includes a scarecrow competition. The standard of flowers, vegetables, home baking, knitting etc is extremely high.

The sheep one was very realistic and was a full sheepskin filled with straw. Apparently a lot of cars stopped thinking the mother and lambs might run out onto the road in front of them!
